At the end of October 2024, Dr. Xiao Hao, General manager Beijing SIO, led the marketing and technical team to visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a global thermonuclear fusion engineering site located in Marseille, France. After visiting the ITER site, he had in-depth technical exchanges with technical experts of the ITER project plasma group.
ITER is one of the largest and most far-reaching international scientific research cooperation projects in the world, which is jointly built by China, the European Union, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the United States. ITER device is a superconducting tokamak that can produce large-scale nuclear fusion reaction, which aims to solve a large number of technical problems, and verify the engineering feasibility of demonstration fusion reactor, which is a key step towards the practical development of controlled nuclear fusion research.
Since 2019, the company has delivered nearly 100 sets of fiber optic current sensors independently developed and produced for ITER project, and completed on-site installation and commissioning in 2022. At present, the equipment is in good running condition, demonstrating the professional strength of China's high-end current measurement equipment.
After the completion of the site visit, the Beijing SIO team conducted in-depth technical exchanges with technical experts of the ITER project plasma current measurement team, and introduced in detail the rich engineering experience of Beijing SIO in the field of controlled nuclear fusion power supply, magnet measurement, plasma measurement and other aspects, and the expert group expressed high recognition. For the special application of ITER, the expert group put forward a higher demand for high-precision, high-current measurement, and discussed further cooperation between the two parties on new needs.
Exchange site
The visit strengthened the partnership between SIO and ITER and laid the foundation for possible future scientific cooperation.
